SHIRE ‘B’                       2

FRY CLUB COLTS          7

We travelled to Stoke Bishop with just 11 available players to play against the same team we had THAT amazing scoreline of 11-6 earlier this season.

A very ordinary and frustrating first half didn’t give away any secrets to how the game would end. In fact, Frys started very slowly with Mo Bouaziz and Craig Andrews in midfield struggling to make good the possession we had and very few chances were created at either end. Craig Francis in Frys goal was kept the busier of the 2 keepers making two wonderful saves, one from a spectacular 40 yard volley which he palmed away brilliantly. However, as the half wore on, Frys got stronger and a subtle change in tactics proved valuable as a long through ball to our 2 strikers created a simple chance for Craig Andrews to score our opening goal to put us 1-0 up at half time.

The second half though was anything but ordinary. Within 2 minutes we were two up with Craig Andrews netting his second, shortly followed by his hat trick with a neat lay off from Jason Oliver allowing him to stroke the ball into the net. A lapse of concentration though allowed Shire a corner which was only half cleared and the ball was put in the net to make it 3-1. 5 minutes later and it was 3-2 as we gave away possession in defence to give Craig no chance in goal. All was not lost though as further pressure from our midfield, which was now dominating the game, gave us a corner which gave Michael Payne the chance to score his first goal for over 3 years with a header. For the final 20 minutes there was only one team in it as Craig Andrews showed his scoring abilities by netting a further 3 brilliant goals to finish with 6 for him and a 7-2 victory. We even had the luxury of two unfortunate misses at the end with only the keeper to beat.

Once again, although Craig Andrews scored 6 out of the 7, it was an all round team performance which won the game with James Boulton and Jordan Knight on the left side playing really well and Kyle Curtis, standing in for the injured James Hurrell Smith, and Danny McCarthy defending very well.

Man of the Math this week was a little easier to choose from and it was deservedly won by our 6 goal hero Craig Andrews.
